Polopoly
Polopoly is a Swedish company founded in 1996 in response to the requirement for a CMS solution for Sweden's largest daily newspaper, Dagens Nyheter. Today Dagens Nyheter are using Polopoly for customer relation's management over several different channels such as, web, WAP, PDA, SMS etc. Polopoly now employs more than 40 developers who continuously work on developing and improving the Polopoly system. Since opening its sales office in the UK Polopoly has become a particularly popular choice within the Higher Education section due to its emphasis on open standards and open architecture.Polopoly is a modular system consisting of modules for content management, eCRM, e-commerce, event management as well as discussion forums and voting and rating modules. Polopoly offers opportunities for a totally integrated and personalized website. All modules can be integrated seamlessly, and information gathered on visitors can be used both for analysis and for a full customization of the website, independent of module.
Polopoly is written entirely in Java, it is platform independent and uses only open standards and open architecture. It is strong in terms of generality being able to be used in any systems environment and facilitating smooth integration with other applications. New applications can also be easily built on top of the Polopoly platform.
