Founded in 1994, Percussion Software offer a family of products the flagship of which is their leading ECM product Rhythmyx 5. Percussion has over 2,500 customers, are self-funded and profitatble.
Rhythmyx is easy to use, with content uploaded from MS Word, configurable browser-based forms or the proprietary Active Assembly. This range of functionality encourages rapid adoption of the CMS by the non-technical business community. Similar ease of use carries onwards to the developers who are working with Configurable Engines built upon industry standards, rather than bespoke code. This makes development quicker as well as more open and accessible.
For efficient content reuse, Rhythmyx offers Intelligent Relationships between content items and Active Assembly. With Active Assembly, business users define content usage based on their knowledge of target audiences and delivery formats, without requiring developers to create new templates.
To ensure cost-effective delivery, Rhythmyx provides a De-Coupled Delivery architecture, which de-couples the Content Management System from the delivery environment. This model provides users with economies of scale and predictable pricing, avoiding the runaway licenses that can be incurred with a coupled delivery approach. De-Coupled Delivery enables organisations to make decisions about their delivery technologies independently of the CMS.
Since actively selling Rhythmyx in the UK and Europe for the last three years, Percussion has established itself as a key vendor. Butler Group's Enterprise Content Management report of Feb 2003 outlined Percussion as the "ECM vendor to watch".
